Privacy policy
Last updated 19 September 2026
Narrative AI Inc. builds an AI video editor. This policy explains what we collect when you use it, why we hold each thing, who else sees it, and how you get it back or get rid of it.
What we collect
- Your account. Your email address, and a name if you give us one. Email and password authentication is handled by our authentication provider.
- The footage you upload. The video, audio, images and fonts you add to a project, and the renders we produce from them.
- What you ask for. The prompts you write, the edits you accept or undo, and the version history of each project. This is what lets you reopen an edit and change it.
- Billing details. Your plan, invoices and payment status. Card numbers go to Stripe and never reach our servers.
- Product and device data. Pages viewed, features used, browser and operating system, approximate location from your IP address, and error reports.
Why we hold it
We use your account and billing details to give you access and charge for it. We use your footage and prompts to produce the edit you asked for, and to keep it available so you can come back to it. We use product and device data to find bugs, keep the service up and decide what to build next.
Where the law requires a legal basis, ours is performance of our contract with you for the first two, our legitimate interest in a working and secure product for the third, and your consent where we ask for it.
Training
We do not use your footage, your prompts or your edits to train our own models, and our contracts with the model providers we use prohibit them from training on what we send. If that ever changes it will be a choice you opt into, not a default, and we will say so here first.
Who else sees it
We share data with the companies that run parts of the service for us, and with nobody else for their own purposes. We never sell it. The AI providers below are the third parties your footage and prompts reach; the app asks for your permission before any of it is sent, and you can withdraw it by deleting your projects or your account.
- AI model providers. Your prompts, the transcript of your footage and still frames from it are sent to OpenRouter, which routes them to the model that plans and assembles the edit: OpenAI, Anthropic or Google (Gemini), depending on the model you pick. Each provider holds the request only for as long as it takes to answer it.
- Deepgram. The audio track of each video you upload, to produce its transcript.
- AWS and Modal. Host our own open-source models — scene and people detection, audio analysis, segmentation — which see excerpts of your footage. AWS also runs our servers.
- Cloud infrastructure and storage. Your footage and renders sit in object storage; our servers and rendering machines run in commercial data centres.
- Stripe. Payments, subscriptions and invoices.
- Analytics and error reporting. Product usage and crash reports, so we can see what is broken.
- Email delivery. Sign-in codes and account email.
We also disclose data where we are legally required to, and to a buyer or successor if the company is sold or merged. If that happens, this policy travels with the data until it is replaced.
Where it is held
We operate in the United States, and your data is stored and processed there and in other countries where our providers run. Where we move personal data out of the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Projects, footage and renders stay until you delete them or close your account. Deleting a project removes it from the app immediately and clears it from storage and backups within 30 days. Closing your account deletes your projects on the same schedule. We keep billing records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and aggregated usage figures that no longer identify you.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit and stored files are encrypted at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it and is logged. No service is perfectly secure, so tell us at privacy@usenarrative.ai if you find a weakness and we will look at it quickly.
Your choices
- See it. Ask for a copy of what we hold about you.
- Correct it. Fix anything wrong from your account settings or by writing to us.
- Delete it. Delete individual projects yourself, or ask us to close your account and remove it all.
- Take it elsewhere. Download your footage and renders at any time.
- Object. Ask us to stop processing where we rely on legitimate interest, or withdraw a consent you gave.
Write to privacy@usenarrative.ai and we will answer within 30 days. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom you may also complain to your data protection authority. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
Cookies
We set the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences, and we use analytics to count usage. We do not run advertising cookies. Blocking cookies in your browser will sign you out and may break parts of the editor.
Children
Narrative is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top. If a change materially affects what we do with your data, we will email you before it takes effect.
