Terms of service
Last updated 19 September 2026
These terms are a binding agreement between you and Narrative AI Inc. (“Narrative”, “we”, “us”) for your use of Narrative, our AI video editor, and any related apps, websites and services (the “Service”). By creating an account, subscribing, or using the Service, you accept these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You are entering into these terms electronically, and you agree that your electronic acceptance has the same legal effect as a signature.
1. Your account
You need an account to use Narrative. Keep your sign-in credentials secure, do not share them, and tell us promptly at legal@usenarrative.ai if you believe someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account, except to the extent it results from our own failure to protect the Service.
If you create an account on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms for that organisation, and “you” then means both you and that organisation.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Narrative. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under the laws of your country or the United States, or if you are on a US government restricted-party or sanctions list.
3. What you upload stays yours
You keep every right you already had in the footage, audio, images, fonts and other material you upload (“Your Content”), and in the edits and renders Narrative produces from it. We claim no ownership of any of it.
To operate the Service we need a limited licence from you. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transcode, reformat, analyse, process and display Your Content, and to transmit it to the third-party providers listed in our privacy policy, solely to operate, secure and deliver the Service to you. This licence exists for that purpose only and ends within a reasonable period after you delete Your Content or close your account, except for backup copies retained for a limited time and anything we must keep to comply with law.
We do not use Your Content to train generative AI models except with your explicit, separate opt-in. We may create and use aggregated or de-identified data derived from use of the Service (data that does not identify you or Your Content) to operate, secure and improve the Service.
4. What you promise about your content
You are responsible for having all rights and permissions needed for Your Content, including any music, footage, images, fonts, trademarks, and any consent required from people who appear in it or whose voice or likeness is used. You represent that Your Content, and our permitted processing of it, does not and will not infringe or violate anyone's rights or any law.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service, and not to upload, create or distribute anything, that:
- infringes or misappropriates anyone's intellectual property, privacy, publicity or other rights;
- depicts, sexualises, or exploits a minor in any way;
- creates a synthetic, altered or “deepfake” depiction of a real, identifiable person without that person's consent, or that is intended to deceive, defraud, defame, harass, or impersonate;
- is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, hateful, or promotes violence or illegal activity;
- contains malware or is designed to interfere with, disable or compromise any system or data.
You also agree not to: resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the Service except as expressly allowed; reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the models, pipelines or source of the Service; circumvent or exceed usage limits, rate limits or access controls; scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service beyond any published API; or probe, overload, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
We may investigate suspected violations and cooperate with law enforcement where appropriate.
6. AI output
Narrative uses AI models to decide where and how to cut. It will sometimes be wrong: it can miss the moment you wanted, misread footage, or produce an edit you would not have made. AI output may be inaccurate, and similar or identical output may be generated for other users.
Every edit lands on a timeline you can open and change. You are responsible for reviewing, and where relevant clearing the rights to, any output before you publish, distribute or rely on it. We make no promise that output will be accurate, original, non-infringing, or fit for any particular purpose.
7. Content moderation and removal
We may, but are not obliged to, review, screen, refuse, remove or disable access to any content that we reasonably believe violates these terms, the rights of others, or the law, or that exposes us or the Service to liability. Where circumstances reasonably allow, we will let you know.
8. Copyright and DMCA
We respect intellectual property rights and respond to notices of alleged infringement under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and comparable laws.
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent at copyright@usenarrative.ai that includes: your physical or electronic signature; identification of the copyrighted work; identification of the material claimed to be infringing and enough detail to locate it; your contact information; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to act for the rights holder.
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you may submit a counter-notice with equivalent information. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.
9. Plans, billing and renewal
- Charges. Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or annually, at the price shown when you subscribe. Subscriptions purchased on our website are processed through Stripe. Taxes are added where they apply, and you are responsible for any applicable taxes other than taxes on our income.
- Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period, at the then-current price for that plan, until you cancel. By subscribing you authorise these recurring charges until you cancel.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your account settings, effective at the end of the current paid period, and you keep access until then. Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play are billed by, and must be managed and cancelled through, that store; those stores' terms and refund policies govern those purchases.
- Free trials. If we offer a free trial, unless you cancel before it ends, it converts to a paid subscription and the applicable charge applies.
- Refunds. Except where the law requires otherwise, or where we have clearly failed to deliver the Service, payments are non-refundable and there are no refunds or credits for partial periods. App store purchases are subject to that store's refund policy.
- Price changes. We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before a price change affects your renewal. If you do not accept the new price, you may cancel before it takes effect.
- Usage limits. Plans include a stated amount of rendering and storage. Exceeding it may slow your exports, require an upgrade, or be subject to additional charges disclosed in advance.
10. Preview and beta features
Features labelled preview, beta or experimental are provided “as is”, may change or be withdrawn at any time, carry no availability or support commitment, and may cap what they render or how long they keep your work. We may collect additional feedback and usage data from these features to improve them.
11. Our material
The Service, including its software, interface, models, pipelines, and the Narrative name and logo, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These terms grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service, and nothing more. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
If you give us feedback or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use them for any purpose without obligation to you.
12. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties, including payment processors, cloud hosting and AI model providers, and may link to or interoperate with third-party products. We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms. Where you connect a third-party account, you authorise us to exchange information with it as needed to provide the Service.
13. App Store terms
If you obtain the Narrative app through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the following also applies and, for Apple, these terms are between you and us only, not Apple:
- Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or its content, and have no obligation to provide support or maintenance for it.
- To the extent required, Apple and Google, and their subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and are not on any US restricted-party list.
- You must also comply with the applicable app store's terms of service.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Narrative and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if your use puts the Service or other people at risk, or if we are required to act by law. Where circumstances reasonably allow, we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your work.
On termination, your right to use the Service ends and we may delete Your Content, subject to the retention described in Section 3. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, dispute resolution, and these general terms — survive.
15. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, and we disclaim all warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that it will produce any particular result. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.
16. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, neither party will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, goodwill or data, arising out of or relating to the Service, even if advised of the possibility.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred US dollars (US$100).
These limits do not apply to your payment obligations, your indemnity obligations, or your violation of Sections 4 or 5 (your content and acceptable use). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including, where applicable, liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
17. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Narrative and its officers, employees and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses and reasonable legal costs arising out of Your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these terms or of any law or rights of others. We will notify you of the claim, may participate in the defence with our own counsel, and you will not settle any claim in a way that imposes obligations on us without our consent.
18. Dispute resolution; arbitration; class-action waiver
Please read this section carefully — it affects how disputes are resolved and limits your right to a court and a jury.
Informal resolution first. Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at legal@usenarrative.ai and give us 30 days to try to resolve the dispute directly.
Binding arbitration. Except for the carve-outs below, any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the Service that is not resolved informally will be settled by final and binding arbitration administered by a recognised arbitration body under its consumer rules, before a single arbitrator, in the English language. The Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this section.
Class-action waiver. You and we agree that disputes will be brought only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, consolidated or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims. If this waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim, and only that claim, will proceed in court.
Carve-outs. Either party may (a) bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and (b) seek injunctive or other equitable relief in court to protect its intellectual property or confidential information.
Opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration and class-action waiver by emailing legal@usenarrative.ai within 30 days of first accepting these terms, stating your name and that you opt out. If you opt out, the governing-law and courts provision in Section 20 applies to your disputes.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, and we will change the date at the top when we do. For a material change we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email or in the Service before it takes effect. Continuing to use Narrative after the change takes effect means you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service and you may cancel.
20. General
- Governing law and courts. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. For any dispute not subject to arbitration, the state and federal courts sitting in Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue. Nothing here overrides mandatory consumer-protection rights available to you where you live.
- Entire agreement. These terms and the documents they reference (including our privacy policy) are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service and supersede any prior agreements on that subject.
- Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest of these terms will remain in effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these terms without our consent. We may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
- Notices. We may give you notices by email, or by posting in the Service. You agree to receive communications from us electronically. Send legal notices to us at legal@usenarrative.ai.
- Relationship. These terms do not create any partnership, agency or employment relationship between us.
- Headings. Section headings are for convenience only and have no legal effect.
